A romantic haunting sleepy-smoky sound, silver saxophone and dreamy voice, reflecting on memories about someone special who is very much missed. On the saxophone is the legendary Charles Neville (yes, of The Neville Brothers) who was known as "Charlie the horn man" back in the day. In addition to the late Mr. Neville with Naomi Louise Warne on vocals and keyboards, this track also features Gabe Deibel on vocals, with David Raven on drums, and Cedric LeMoyen on bass. The original band U-ka was created by  Naomi Louise Warne in 1993 when she lived in New Orleans. The inspiration of the fabled city and her collaboration with the great jazz saxophonist  produced some fabulous "live" performances. They continued to play and record together over the next 24 years until Charles passing in 2018.


Naomi Louise Warne is an Australian singer, songwriter and, multi-instrumentalist who started off singing lead vocals for Australia's Young Northside Big Band. She spent her 20’s making a mark in the Australian music scene as the voice behind numerous movie and television theme songs, when the band played at the esteemed Monterey Jazz Festival Naomi's voice was recognized by the likes of Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Getz, Woody Herman, Joe Williams, and Buddy Rich. John Lewis of the ‘Modern Jazz Quartet’ was so taken by her voice that he compared her to the “Late, great Julie London.” Ms Warne is also a lifelong student and teacher of both music and the healing arts of Tai Chi and Qigong.

Ukamusic draws from the global legacies of Johnny Mandel and Charles Neville with this new world version of Johnny’s classic love song. His other compositions include "Suicide Is Painless" (theme from the movie and TV series M*A*S*H), "Close Enough for Love," "Emily" and "A Time for Love" (nominated for an Academy Award). 

U-ka means "brightness" and the name comes from a bed-time story, it invokes something like the stardance light that fills the sea, and the sound lives up to the fable. The musical project is a new century world music collective, and continues to create new original music.

  When you sit at a nice big piano and hold down the sustain pedal with your foot, and then play a chord, there is this sound made. Keep your foot pressing down on the sustain pedal and after the chord itself happens, that sound sort of lingers in the air for a few moments. Using studio magic that particular sound can be made to go on and on, instead of fading in a few moments. This whole album has a magical river sound all throughout. New Clouds

  High-level stratocumuliform clouds open out before me, an enchanted world of the genus cirrocumulus forms, where snow begins when moist air at high tropospheric altitude reaches saturation, creating eloquent ice crystals or supercooled water droplets. Other Weather presents with eleven pieces, chiefly excited by movements taking place high up in the air.
